SUB MOUNT INSTRUCTIONS
9311P4, 9318009311P4, 931800 - PRINTABLE LINK
1)                Place bike on a stand and remove bars and triple clamp.
2)                Remove bar perches from triple clamp.
3)                Install frame bracket over head tube and torque per installation instructions supplied with frame bracket.
4)                Re-install triple clamp only at this time
5)                Torque steering stem nut and pinch bolts on triple clamp to manufacturer’s torque specs.
6)                P/N 9311P4 do NOT use top washer.
7)                Install BRP SUB mount using stock M10 hardware. (P/N 8500P6 and 8504P6 uses supplied M10 hardware)
8)                Torque M10 Nylock nuts to manufacturer’s torque specs.                                                                                                                                                    
9)                Install Damper using (2) M6 Allen bolts. Damper will need to be mounted in reverse position with body facing towards the rider. For removal of damper arm a puller tool is available.
10)            Install handlebars and torque bar clamps.
11)            Check steering for any cable interference and proper function of all controls.
12)            Check for clearance of tower pin and damper body.

Note: 06-09 TE610 and all other 2010 Models require installing M10 Bolts in from bottom and inserting nuts into SUB mount. A 2.28mm thick washer is supplied to ensure proper clearance between M10 bolt head and tower ring around head tube.

9610P3- PRINTABLE LINK
1)                Place bike on a stand and remove bars and triple clamp.
2)                Remove bar perches from triple clamp.
3)                Install frame bracket over head tube and torque per installation instructions supplied with frame bracket.
4)                Re-install triple clamp only at this time
5)                Torque steering stem nut and pinch bolts on triple clamp to manufacturer’s torque specs.
6)                Install BRP SUB mount using stock M10 hardware.
7)                Torque M10 Nylock nuts to manufacturer’s torque specs

4)              Re-install triple clamp only at this time
5)              Torque steering stem nut and pinch bolts on triple clamp.
6)              Install BRP SUB mount using new hardware.
7)              Torque M12 Nylock nuts as follows:                                        
            Solid Mounted triple clamps   35 - 40 ft. Lbs.                                                                                                          

            Rubber Mounted triple clamps 24 – 32 ft. lbs.
8)              Install Damper using (2) M6 Allen bolts Damper will require rotating arm to allow body to face towards the rider.
9)              Install handlebars and torque bar clamps.
10)           Check steering for any cable interference and proper function of all controls.
11)           Check for clearance of tower pin and damper body.

980314 - PRINTABLE LINK
1)   Place bike up on a stand and remove the seat and tank.

2)   Remove handlebars and triple clamp. (Refer to owners manual for removal and 
       installation procedures.)
3)   Install new SUB mount tower.
       (Follow instructions supplied with tower)
4)   Assemble and torque SUB mount to triple clamp using supplied hardware.
SUB Mount will come with pre-installed studs. (Torque 12mm nuts according to your models torque specifications.)
5)   Position handlebar perches in desired position, either 12 or 22mm in front of steering    
stem and torque 10mm bolts to 30-35 lb/ft pounds. We recommend using Loc-tite on these bolts.
6)   Install triple clamp and SUB mount onto bike. Follow owner’s manual for torque                    
       specifications.
7)   Install Scott’s stabilizer w/ (2) 6mm allen bolts. (Use Loc-tite on bolts)
8)   Install handlebars and bar clamps, follow owner’s manual for torque                    
       specifications.
9)   While bike is on a stand, check that all cables and controls are functioning properly              
       by turning handlebars from lock to lock.
10)   After initial ride re-torque all bolts

990511, 10012P3, 10018N3, 10018P3 - PRINTABLE LINK
1)   Place bike up on a stand and remove the seat and tank.

2)   Remove handlebars and triple clamp. (Refer to owners manual for removal and    
     installation procedures.)
3)   Install new SUB mount tower.
       (Follow instructions supplied with tower)
4)   Assemble and torque SUB mount to triple clamp using OEM 10mm nuts
SUB Mount will come with pre-installed special studs.  (Torque OEM 10mm nuts according to your models torque specifications.)
5)   Position handlebar perches in desired position, either 11 or 21mm in front of steering    
stem and torque 10mm bolts to 30-35 lb/ft pounds. We recommend using Loc-tite on these bolts.
6)   Install triple clamp and SUB mount onto bike. Follow owner’s manual for torque                    
       specifications.
7)   Install Scott’s stabilizer w/ (2) 6mm allen bolts. (Use Loc-tite on bolts)
8)   Install handlebars and bar clamps, follow owner’s manual for torque                    
       specifications.

       (Follow instructions supplied with tower)
4)   Assemble and torque SUB mount to triple clamp using 12mm nuts supplied
       (1001011 reuses OEM hardware)
SUB Mount will come with pre-installed studs.        (Torque 12mm nuts to 25-28 lb/ft.)
5)   Position handlebar perches in desired position, either 11 or 21mm in front of steering

XR 650 SUB MOUNT INSTRUCTIONS - PRINTABLE LINK
1)   Place bike up on a stand and remove the seat and tank.
2)   Remove handlebars and triple clamp. ( Refer to owners manual for removal and          
       installation procedures.)
3)   Install new FBD-4601-20 SUB mount tower.
3A) Retro-Fit. ( If you are currently using a 4601-10 Scotts forward mount tower then            
       follow the procedure in step 3B to retro-fit your existing frame bracket.
3B) Remove 4601-10 Scotts forward mount tower from head tube of bike.
3C) Remove stainless steel post from frame bracket by removing 8mm allen bolt.
3D) Drill a ½” diameter hole through the aluminum frame bracket where the old post was  
       bolted through. This must be done to allow for the new retro-fit post to drop down
       inside of the frame bracket. ( This procedure should be done by an experienced
       machinist or motorcycle mechanic.)  
3E) Re-install stainless steel post onto aluminum frame bracket using the 8mm hex head    
       bolt, supplied with retro-fit post. Torque to 25-30 lb/ft. ( Use Loc-tite on bolt )
3F) Re-install frame bracket on to head tube of bike. ( Torque to 18 lb/ft )
4)   Assemble and torque SUB mount to triple clamp using 12mm bolts supplied.    
     ( Torque 12mm bolts to 35-40 lb/ft. )
5)   Install .090 thick aluminum spacer on steering stem.                                                                          
6)   Install triple clamp and SUB mount onto bike. Follow owners manual for torque                    
       specifications.
7)   Re-route clutch and compression release cable to go between the upper triple clamp  
       and handle bars. ( This must be done to prevent cable binding ).
8)   Install new 3” longer throttle cables using stock routing.(XR400 does not require cables)
9)   Install Scotts stabilizer w/ (2) 6mm allen bolts. ( Use Loc-tite on bolt )
       ( Note: Pointer on low speed adjuster may need to be modified to clear bars.)
10) Install handlebars and bar clamps Follow owners manual for torque                    
       specifications.
11) Check that all cables and controls are functioning properly.
12) After initial ride re-torque all bolts.

Triple Clamp Instructions
Upper Triple Clamp

Support front tire and remove stock upper triple clamp ( Refer to owners manual )

Install BRP top triple clamp.

Install steering stem washer and nut using a small amount of red loctite and torque to motorcycle manufacturer’s specification. (refer to owners manual for torque specification)

Install fork pinch bolts using a small amount of grease or anti-seize.       Torque fork pinch bolts to motorcycle manufacturer’s specification (Refer to owner’s manual for torque specification.)

Install bar mount perches, 12mm bar mount bolt and hardware. At this time, only snug up bar mount bolts, do not torque them down. You will need the bar mounts to be free to align properly with the handlebars.

Install handle bars. Install top bar clamps and 8mm bolts using a small amount of grease or anti-seize. Tighten top bar clamp bolts evenly to achieve equal spacing between the bar mount perches and top bar clamps. (Refer to owner’s manual for torque specifications.)

Rubber mounted bar mounts: Torque 12mm bar mount bolts to 25-28 lb/ft.

Solid mounted bar mounts: Torque 12mm bar mount bolt to 35-40 lb/ft

Re-torque all bolts after first ride to ensure tightness. Make checking the torque of all triple clamp, bar mount, and fork pinch bolts part of your routine maintenance.

Lower Triple Clamp
BRP highly recommends that you have your triple clamps installed by a qualified, professional mechanic. Removal and installation of the steering stem and bearing should be done, only, by a qualified mechanic with the proper tools. Failure to do so can cause damage to the steering stem and/or triple clamp assembly, resulting in serious injury or possible death. Any improper methods of installing or removing steering stem will void any and all implied warranties and will release BRP, Billet Racing Products L.L.C. from any and all liability.


4 Post Rubber Triple Clamp

Support front tire and remove stock upper triple clamp ( Refer to owners manual )

Install BRP top triple clamp.

Install steering stem washer and nut using a small amount of red loctite and torque to motorcycle manufacturer’s specification. (refer to owners manual for torque specification)

Install fork pinch bolts using a small amount of grease or anti-seize.       Torque fork pinch bolts to motorcycle manufacturer’s specification (Refer to owner’s manual for torque specification.)

Install handle bars. Install top bar clamps and 8mm bolts using a small amount of grease or anti-seize. Tighten top bar clamp bolts evenly to achieve equal spacing between the bar mount perches and top bar clamps. (Refer to owner’s manual for torque specifications.)

Re-torque all bolts after first ride to ensure tightness. Make checking the torque of all triple clamp, bar mount, and fork pinch bolts part of your routine maintenance.

Assemble BRP Handlebar Perches and attach to Upper Triple Clamp using M8X45 Hex Head bolts and washer. Use Blue Loc-Tite and torque to 18-20 Ft./Lbs
